Jamaican Products to Bring the Island Into Your Home

Now, as much as we would like to, we simply can’t jet off to Jamaica every weekend. So there are a few products from Jamaican-owned brands that we love to use at home to make us feel like we are on the rock. Here are some of our faves:

One absolute must-have? Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. We love it so much that we’ve given it its own separate post on the website. Close your eyes, savour the heavenly smell and taste, and pretend that you are up in the Blue Mountains on a cool verandah somewhere looking out at a stunning morning view. Our current favourite brand is Birdy’s Daughter, a company committed to buying directly from licensed and certified Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee farmers.

A perhaps lesser-well-known but just-as-good Jamaican delicacy is honey. The bees in Jamaica (estimated at almost 70 different types) have a plethora of flora from which to obtain nectar, and this leads to an incredibly high-quality honey. We love to buy ours from Lignum Honey in particular for the amazing flavours they offer, like Scotch Bonnet pepper, mango and ginger, to name just a few. Add some Jamaican honey to your tea and imagine yourself walking amongst the beautiful flowers across the island that this sweet nectar comes from!

Jamaica is also renowned for its chocolate – the same mountainous land that gives rise to amazing coffee gives rise to amazing cocoa. There’s nothing like a steaming hot mug of Jamaica chocolate tea, aka cocoa tea, with cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s got a unique taste all its own. But when we can’t be in Jamaica to drink chocolate, or eat chocolate, we turn to One More Cocoa. Their chocolate bars are absolutely delicious and their wrappers are beautiful, they’re a collector’s piece all on their own.

While you wait for that next trip, give some of these a try!
