Who To Follow To Learn More About Jamaica

Although we strive to share lots of great information with you about our favourite destination both here and on our Instagram page, there are so many wonderful content creators out there who are amazing ambassadors for Brand Jamaica. Follow these folks below for motivation to book that ticket!

One of our newest discoveries is Rochelle Knight, an internist who runs the blog Adventures from Elle. She blogs regularly on her travels all over the world, but with a special spotlight on Jamaica, which is where she calls home. Visit her site for lots of rich detail on what Jamaica has to offer, and she also has a travel book that you can purchase on Amazon.

If you want to learn more about the amazing people that Jamaicans are, check out Odyssey by Yendi. This show available on YouTube, and hosted by Jamaican fan favourite Yendi Phillipps, aims to profile well-known (and some not-so-well-known) Jamaicans who share their journeys and previously untold stories. It will inspire you to come see more and learn more of the country that produced these amazing people.

Similarly, if you’re into podcasts, check out one of our favourites, Redirection with Terri-Karelle. Terri-Karrelle Johnson, another Jamaican fan favourite, hosts this podcast where the resilience, hustle, drive, and sheer power of the Jamaican spirit comes through in every inspiring person that she profiles.

Mecca James-Williams is a well-known American stylist and creative director who visited Jamaica years ago and fell in love with it (who can blame her?) She’s now living in Jamaica part-time and has created JAM, a commerce platform spotlighting top-quality Jamaican, Jamaican diaspora, and other African diaspora designers. JAM is off to a great start and has even been profiled by Vogue magazine. She’s recently had a pop-up at Skylark Negril Beach Resort and has a long-term vision for a store in Kingston. Her initiative is directly impacting the Jamaican economy and we can’t wait to see what she does next!

Irina is another foreigner who came to Jamaica and fell in love. On her Youtube channel, Jamaica with Irie, she shares lots of great information about the island’s history, current context, where to visit and what she’s learned in her time living in Jamaica. Her love for Jamaica is obvious in every video.
